• Thickness: 10mm to 150mm. May affect max operating speed—thicker wheels require reduced RPM per EN 12413.
• Abrasive Blends: Any ratio of ZA, fused AlOx, SiC, and ceramic grain. Pilot blends formulated with performance data provided.
• Bond Systems: 15+ phenolic resin formulations modified for specific hardness, heat resistance, and porosity targets.
• Reinforcement: Single to multiple fiberglass mesh layers. Carbon fiber reinforcement for ultra-high-speed applications (80-100 m/s).
• Profiles: Cup (type 6/11), dish (type 12), cylinder (type 1), flaring cup (type 11), and custom shapes for specialized grinder heads.

Custom Design and Order Process (4-6 Weeks)

1. Week 1—Consultation: Grinder model, arbor specifications, rail type/grade, grinding objectives (corrective/preventive/profiling), expected annual volume.
2. Week 2—Design Proposal: Specification sheet with abrasive type, grit size, bond grade, dimensions, reinforcement, max RPM, cost estimate, and MOQ confirmation.
3. Week 3-4—Prototype: 10-20 test wheels manufactured. Shipped with test protocol documentation and performance evaluation templates.
4. Week 4-5—Field Testing: Customer evaluates prototype on actual grinding operations. Remote support and data collection provided by {RC} engineers.
5. Week 5-6—Production Run: Full production of approved specification. QC certificates, MSDS, and EN 12413 compliance documentation with shipment.

Common Customization Scenarios

• Legacy equipment: Older grinders (pre-2000) with non-standard arbors (20mm, 28mm, 1-1/8 inch). 50+ legacy grinder models supported with historical data.
• Asian-manufactured grinders: Often use metric bores (16mm, 20mm, 25mm) not matching European/US standard sizes (22.23mm, 25.4mm).
• Specialized rail profiles: Custom wheel profiles for unique rail sections—crane rail, grooved tram rail, conductor rail, and special trackwork.
• High-speed grinding: Wheels rated for 80-100 m/s operation on specialized high-speed grinders. Carbon fiber reinforced for safety at extreme RPM.
• Low-volume specialty: MOQ 50 pieces for standard sizes and profiles, 100 for complex shapes. Lead time may extend for exotic abrasive combinations.
